U9's 0 - 3 AC Finchley West

Away | 29 September 2018

After a brief 5 minute break, we fielded a fresh lineup. Lily B in Goal, Maya in Defence, Lily S was captain in right midfield with Tatiana left midfield and finishing with Safia as Striker. AC Finchley West looked very confident on the ball and gave us big problems from the start. We found ourselves often having to use 2-3 players to defend as ACFW charged us down. Lily B pulled off some SPECTACULAR saves to keep us in the game. Eventually, ACFW kept coming and managed to power a shot low and hard into our goal.

AC Finchley West 1-0 Barnet Nightingales

We continued to press and become stronger, Safia dropped into Midfield and switched with Tatiana. Safia continued to make good tackles and turn to drive the ball forwards. Lily S put in a good performance as the captain while also being strong and decisive in some tough defensive situations however she continued to defend well alongside Maya. ACFW got a counter attack and managed to slot another past Lily and into our goal.

AC Finchley West 2-0 Barnet Nightingales

We made a substitution with Rose coming on and switching for Maya in Defence. We continued to hold off ACFW however after some good dribbling by their Right Midfielder, they drove home a third.

AC Finchley West 3-0 Barnet Nightingales

Finally we brought on Milly for Safia in Midfield and Ella back to Striker for Tatiana. Ella continued to perform and make things difficult for ACFW's defence with a couple of shots which we blocked. With not long left in the game, we did our best however ACFW defended what we had and soaked up the pressure.

Final Score: AC Finchley West 3-0 Barnet Nightingales

So after our first day of games, I am over the moon. All the girls went out there and gave it their all with some notable performances by Rose (Scoring a goal from the half-way line and putting in a solid performance in defence and as captain), Lily B (Our guardian angel in goal)  and Ella (Our very own little Lionel Messi). We looked strong and I'm looking forward to see how we progress over this season.
